{ Sparks in December }

A few weeks ago at my regular orthodontist appointment I was surprised and elated to hear that after three years my braces are finally ready to come off later this month! My first reaction was to buy some amazing red lipstick from Lime Crime to wear in celebration.

Secondly my thoughts went to all the outfit posts I've taken over the past four or five months which haven't been posted yet - eeek. It's really time to get up to date with those! This one was taken on my Adelaide trip during winter... it looks suitably Christmas-y with all the sequins and berry red!

eBay spiked headband (similar)
Dotti bow back jumper
Gold sequin skirt (similar)
YSL inspired ring (original)
Jeffrey Cambell 'Miller' flats C/O Ashbury Skies
Katy Perry 'Oh Honey' false lashes

P.S. Does anyone have any experiences with having braces taken off? I'm a bit worried that there is going to be a lot of pain and blood involved as I'm a giant sook when it comes to things like that...

I had braces for three years and i remember little pain and no blood haha. i actually think it was pain free but you will feel weird afterwards, my teeth felt super light and smooth, was good though! yay.
love this outfit too, very christmasy indeed. xo

It's actually completely painless! Just a little awkward in some places when they scrape off the glue! Mainly it's just exciting to feel your teeth again! Best carry a little mirror with you, so you can keep looking at them! :)

Sushi replied...

Haha thanks for the tip! I found the worst part was the scraping/drilling, but it was manageable xo

I remember when I got mine off! (I say that like it's a distant reality but it was more like a year or so ago.) It doesn't hurt at all! They just sort of... take them off. The memory is hazy -- which is a good thing, because I remember pain. I'm pathetic when it comes to it. But it was very quick and simple. Hehe, and it's funny to see that you celebrated the same way I (and probably everyone else) did -- bold lipstick!

I got my braces on around the same time as you but mine came off after 18 months - I promise no pain or blood, just a tired jaw after keeping it open so wide for so long. The worst are the back teeth when they use the implement that "clicks" the bracket off, and when they fit you for the retainer after... the mould is disgusting! I've had it done many times since due to a jaw problem that needs surgery, and it never gets any easier. Just do your best to think about something other than the putty in your mouth!

Sushi replied...

The mould was pretty gross but at least it didn't taste like anything :s

Hi Sushi! That's great news, although I think the braces look supersupercute on you!

I had braces when I was younger and don't worry, getting them removed doesn't hurt AT ALL. I had much more more trouble when they put mine IN! Afterwards you won't be able to stop feeling your teeth with your tongue - it's going to feel so weird but so good haha.

Anyway I love this outfit. Its weird how the sequin skirt doesn't look out of place or flashy or anything. Good styling :D

Good luck getting your braces removed!

Thanks, Angie, I didn't mind having them that much but it was annoying being mistaken for a school girl so often :p LOVE having them off now, it did feel really strange and slimy the first few days x Sushi

This is sooo cute! And festive. Hmm I'm finally getting into the spirit of things :)

As far as braces go, getting them off isn't so much painful as it is uncomfortable. Ugh, I was so fidgety, just thinking "GET ME OUT OF HERE!" but it's worth it.

Sushi replied...

I am SO happy to have them off now after three years - definitely worth it! :D

This outfit is wonderful but especially because it's on you! If I had your figure I would only ever wear mini skirts!

Sushi replied...

Haha you're too kind. I nearly didn't post this outfit at all because I thought my legs looked to chunky :(

Re Braces coming off, no pain or blood for me. It just felt like pressure on each tooth as they clicked them off. My biggest gripe was that I felt that the back teeth weren't clean enough and was conscious of my breath. I'd buy mouthwash for that - but otherwise I promptly went and bought hubba bubba AHAHAHAHA I was only 12.

love this outfit! looks great- the colours go so well together

As for braces- there isn't blood or anything like that involved...they might be a little sensitive, but all in all nothing too bad at all-it's a relief to get them taken off!!
